Dear eNRG Community,

There are five announcements in this newsletter: The Clackamas River Clean Up, the Oregon Recreation and Safety Showcase, eNRG's student appreciation BBQ, fall classes, and a swiftwater rescue course.   If you have any questions, please call us at 503.772.1122 or check out our website at www.enrgkayaking.com.  Thanks.

Clackamas River Clean Up, Sunday, September 7th

This is your chance to give back to a local river that not only provides awesome opportunities for fun and outdoor recreation, but is also a major source of drinking water for many of the areas around Portland.  Last year's effort removed over 2 tons of trash from the river.  This year is going to be even bigger.  Volunteers need to register before the event at www.enrgkayaking.com.  No paddling experience is necessary, and everyone is encouraged to bring their friends.  The clean up begins at 9:30 at Carver Park with a free BBQ and live band to celebrate a day of hard work from 4:00-7:00.  Be there!

Oregon Recreation and Safety Showcase Friday, Spetember 15th

From noon-4:30, come to Barton Park and discover more about Oregon's booming recreation industry.  Join eNRG Kayaking for a class on the river, learn life saving river and mountain safety tips from America Medical Response and Portland Mountain Rescue's teams, visit with expert fishing guides, and demo boats from Next Adventure.  This event is open to the community and everyone is encouraged to come.

eNRG's Student Appreciation BBQ, Monday September 18th

Starting at 6pm, eNRG Kayaking is having a BBQ for all of you as a way of saying thank you for supporting our school and programs.  The party is being held at eNRG World Headquarters (Sam's House), located at 2504 SE Tibbetts St. PDX, 97202.  Please RSVP by calling our office or emailing at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it so that we can make the necessary plans for food and beverages.  Guests welcome!

Fall Classes

Even though the summer is coming to a close, the time is ripe for learning to paddle now.  With that in mind, we're offering a special fall beginner package starting on September 20th.   Sign up before the 15th, and receive a 10% discount.  Along with a beginner package, this fall eNRG also offers intermediate classes, playboating clinics, advanced strokes courses, and a swiftwater rescue workshop, which brings us to our next point.

Swiftwater Rescue Workshop Saturday and Sunday, September 30th and October 1st

The rainy season is right around the corner bringing many paddling opportunities to come.  Do yourself a favor, and be safe by being prepared.  Our two-day swiftwater rescue course covers such topics as river hydrology, group management, important safety gear, swimming in rapids, anchors, mechanical advantage, knots, rope work, foot entrapments, boat pins, and more.  This course is from 9-5 each day with classroom and river components.   Cost: $225.

All of us at eNRG hope to see you at some of the upcoming events.  Cheers,

Sam, Mike, Gabe, Andy, and Dave
